On a possible White Sox collapse this season, Eric Zorn writes:
I’d be above this sort of sentiment if I didn’t know for certain how high-five delighted Sox fans were at the Cub crumble of 2003; how Steve Bartman is more beloved on the South Side than he is in Florida, home of the Marlins; how thrilled you are now that the promising, talented, highly-paid 2005 Cubs have betrayed their fans with mediocrity and injury.
If Sox fans hadn’t thrown peanuts at me (and my Cubs jersey) at a game I might disagree with Zorn. Or if I saw more Sox shirts than Cubs Suck (and variations) shirts, or if in general I saw Sox fans define themselves by their love for their team, instead of their hatred of the Cubs. On the other hand, I’m not rooting for the Sox to lose. But if they do…
On a related note, if you read the first comment from Zorn’s post, you see the words of a crazy man. Why do people insist on writing stupid things just because they can? I’d say it’s to get their name in print, but this guy’s to chicken to use his name. If he really had any respect for Zorn in the first place, don’t you think he’d know Zorn is a columnist (writes opinion!) who happens to be a Cubs fan, not a beat reporter (or any kind of reporter) that is supposed to be impartial? Is he saying the only way to have repspect for somebody is if they write the opinion you happen to agree with??

Hey, columnists are also “reporters” too, ya know!
You deserved it! I was there.
You know for being a cubs fan and a detractor of white sox fans spiteful attitude towards your team, the greasy south siders sure get a lot of coverage on the blog.
Is it a fan of baseball wishing he could just enjoy both teams and not be harassed about it? Or a bit of a elitist Cubs snobbery towards those lower-class sox citizens? Hopefully, a bit of both.
My team wins doesn’t cut it for a grinder ball fan.
