What a wonderful weekend.
rIAm and I had a “date” Friday night, where we cooked up some delicious wild Alaskan salmon, accompanied by fresh-from-the-farmer’s-market asparagus, bulb onions, and mushrooms, along with a tasty wild/basmati/brown rice mixture from Trader Joe’s. The rice and asparagus were done indoors, the rest on the grill, and everything was super yummy. I even grilled the sausage rIAm’s aunt made, which is fantastically scrumptious. And then we cozied up to watch Breaking Away, which I convinced rIAm she wanted to see. Afterward, she was talking about how her dad has to watch the movie now. Such a great night.
And Saturday, with absolutely gorgeous weather, I spent time doing things around the house I’ve been wanting to do for a while. I got rIAm’s bike ready to ride, gave some attention to my second bike, and figured out how to get a second u-lock affixed to my main bike, which proved more difficult than it sounds. All of this while basking in the backyard sunshine. I also did a bunch of laundry and sorted clothes, moving summer-wear into the convenient drawers and the winter-wear to the inconvenient locales. And then we went to some friends’ house for an absolutely lovely and delicious dinner in their quaint backyard. We rode our bikes, which was great, and riding home on a side street was reminiscent of Amsterdam. Plus, our friends even played Mexican Train with us, which just gets rIAm so excited she cannot contain herself.
And then Sunday was spent doing others things that needed to be done, which felt all productive-like, and then we went to a different friends place for dinner, which was also very lovely and delicious. These friends are from India, and they make traditional food, and it’s oh-so-good.
Since I had grilled that good spicy sausage on Friday, I wanted to be sure to eat the leftover, so Saturday and Sunday I whipped up a quick sausage ‘n eggs that went down super easy. It’s probably best I can’t do that every weekend, but dang, I’m sure glad I could do it last weekend!
Such a delicious weekend!
