Very cool. We sampled some raw at the farmer's market and I loved the flavour of the sea and the saltiness, but it was a bit much for renée (to my surprise, actually). She was ready to walk away but I had the idea to put it in this pasta and she liked the idea. Had to remind her not to add more salt, though. I think this batch came from the east coast but the vendor (Forbes Wild Foods) has foragers on both coasts. They also make a mustard with this stuff in it that is apparently to die for. We saw at our market last Monday (when they didn't have any fresh) a woman come up and eagerly take away a mustard and she had apparently eaten some right from the spoon of her last jar. Thursday's market isn't one we go to as often because it's a touch further away (Monday's is less than a block away!) but it's a super good one and this time he had the "sea asparagus" fresh...

This looks super-yummy! I like your use of "sea asparagus." They call it sea beans around here and it's sometimes available at our farmers' market. Also good raw as a snack or as an accompaniment to seafood such as salmon or clams.
