The Good and Bad Dusty

The Cincinnati Reds come to town today to face the Cubs, and the big story going in is the return of Dusty Baker to Wrigley Field. A lot is made of whether he’ll get boos and what reception, in general, he deserves. As you may recall, he departed after the disastrous 2006 season, when the [...]

Blue Jays to Fans: No More Beer for You

In my latest entry on blogTO, I discuss the beer ban imposed by the Blue Jays after fights broke out in the stands on opening day and again Tuesday night.

my dad plays ball

Watch my dad play ball (the “cute” redhead with glasses) with his cousins outside his childhood home. Very cool video, converted into digital format by another (not-pictured) cousin. Baseball’s Back!

Juan Pierre just started the Cubs 2006 season with a leadoff triple.
Todd Walker just drove him in, and reached base.
Let’s hope this is a sign of things to come this season.
Yesterday the White Sox won their opener 10-3, after unveiling their World Series Championship banners.
The Boys of Summer are back!

Around the Net

Some things I saw online today…
- It’s hard for me to figure out how a special committee looking at Negro League era baseball players could put 17 people into the Hall of Fame and not include Minnie Minoso. He simply deserves to be there. Thank you Phil Rogers for pointing that out.
- Various issues about [...]
